I really REALLY want to like this place. It is right next door to my gym, has good atmosphere, and almost always a nice little crowd. Finally decided to come by and try to place for a quick drink with a friend around 8ish on a Tuesday night. Like other yelpers have noted, it's a bit odd to have a bar 'hostess', but whatever. The two of us got seated at the bar and began chatting a bit and waiting for a bartender or...well...anyone to bring by some menus or look in our general direction. 10 minutes later menus are plopped down and another 10 minutes later we are finally able to grab someone's eye to order a drink. I had the Brentwood Garden (I believe) which was really tasty but I always cringe a bit at $15 martinis regardless of the nom factor. Now, mind you, it's prime dinner hour and I expect a place to be busy. I actually saw quite a few people buzzing around serving... but for the life of me could not get the attention of someone to order anything. Because it was dinner time, we were both hungry and would have ordered food, but after 40 minutes of waiting for someone to take an order both of us had finished our cocktails and didn't feel like waiting another 20-30 for appetizers. Another 15 minutes to flag someone down for a checks. (At this point we started timing) Put down card right away. Chatted to eachother how we would have considered ordering another drink if we didn't think it would take an additional 2 hrs. 15 minutes for someone to take the card and another 20 minutes before the check was brought over. All things considered, this seemed like the longest damn "Drink" of my life. Too bad. It was good company, and again, I like the space alot. The one drink I managed to snag was good and I am bummed I didn't have the opportunity to try anything else. Dear Toscana - don't blow it. One of the most important things working for any good bar/restaurant is attentive service, and nothing will alienate patrons more than feeling ignored or feeling like you don't value their patronage.

Great location - Beautifully designed. If only it was not deafening - horrible acoustics. Wine list great though too expensive. Same for food - $20 for a margarita pizza??!! really??

This bar is my most favorite bar in Los Angeles. Why? It's got heart!!! AND amazing food and drinks in a casual fun enviornment. They care about doing it right. A LOT. And they do, do it Right, very Right! The quality is the best I have found. The drinks are amazing!!!! Seriously Amazing!!! The owners found a special mixologist from Italy and brought him over! And WOW! And the food? The bar food is Excellent AND now you get to also order from Toscana's menu!!! Are you kidding me?! It's got the feel of a local bar, I go in sweats sometimes, and yet it's hip and fun. And you can not find this quality of food at any bar AND the drinks! the beautiful drinks!!!! I only hope not too many find out about this place, cause if it gets too busy and hip I will be sad.

Delicious, amazing & meticulously crafted. Robert at the bar is an absolute mixologist expert.

I ventured over to Bar Toscana from my office in Brentwood with a friend after work instead of sitting on the (405) freeway. I really liked Bar Toscana the trendy offspring of Toscana next door. Toscana has been a Westside staple for great Italian food, snooty attitude and service not to mention celebrity central for years... Bar Toscana has the same wonderful food in a very upscale, vibrant, edgy yet welcoming wine bar cocktail lounge setting. A very cool space... The handcrafted drinks and select wines are showcased here alongside truly wonderful Italian food. The Burrata and Speck was simple yet flawless. The Tuna Tartare was wonderful with Peppers, Asparagus and black truffles. The Rib Eye Sliders sooo good. The service is much more welcoming and attentive than big brother. The prices are as expected top shelf as is the food. Bar Toscana is a great space and place for the well heeled to relax, unwind, savor really good food, wonderful specialty drinks and wine not to mention see and be seen in casual elegance on the Westside...

Being right behind my house, I frequent Bar Toscana quite a bit. It's classy but not too uppity. You can get some decent food. Some items I recommend are the salad with fresh watermelon and their pizza. Yum, yum. I have eaten a ton of other menu items, but these were what stood out for me. Most drinks are good, or just go for a glass of vino. Bartenders are nice. Be cautious of creepy old men. A lot of scumbag lawyers like to come here and prey.

I enjoyed my time here, but had to dock down a few stars because of value. This is a more casual setting than Toscana across the way, which is great. I met up with a friend for happy hour and we split a charcuterie plate, a pasta dish, and a side of veggies. Everything was very tasty, but I really couldn't wrap my head around the price tag - particularly since the service left something to be desired. If I'm going to spend $75, I would like to at least be full when I leave or be completely blown away by the food. Or at least be wowed by the service. :) This place does have potential and I would venture to try it again. Perhaps I just ordered wrong or went at an off time.

I've long been a fan of Toscana, and wanted to love Bar Toscana as much. I've been here about a dozen times, and the food is, in general, very good. I do, however, think that it's a bit on the pricey side for what it is meant to be a more casual, less expensive version of Toscana next door. A couple of niggles, though: a couple of months ago, I had to send back my pasta Bolognese as it was so salty that it was inedible. Last night, someone at our table ordered the same dish, and she too had to send it back for the same reason. They offered to make a fresh plate without added salt, which was fine (though it clearly wasn't put in as a rush order - we waited ages for it to arrive), but what really grated is that after the second dish was delivered, our server never once came to the table to ask if everything was okay. He walked past us several times, but not once did he stop to ensure that the diner was happy with her new plate. Nor did anyone apologise for the plate arriving after everyone else at the table had finished eating. An over-salted dish (twice in two visits!) is unfortunate, but not enough to prevent me from returning. But the absence of basic service etiquette is really irksome. As it's a cocktail bar environment, it's very noisy, as you'd expect. If you want to have an audible conversation with your fellow diners, ask for one of the two tables at the back - the acoustics are slightly better there.

This review is just based on the drinks. I only went once and only tried a couple cocktails. They were delicious! The mixologists are fantastic, the servers are very nice, and the drink menu is great! I'll definitely be back for the drinks! The food menu looked very good as well so I wanna try that too

Great place for a quick meal. Nice atmosphere not too loud but lively. The food was simple but very curated: we had a great salad with peas and artichokes, an array of 3 Italian cheeses really special, especially the blue cheese which was not too strong as it usually is. A great strawberry and pickled onion jam was accompanying the cheeses, and the bread was perfect. The pizza was truffle and mozzarella really good flavor combo and nice texture to the dough. Cocktails were also very well done, I got a pear Bellini and my hubby a smoky rye concoction, not too sweet! Will go back again, hoping to get a table in the middle of the action. I recommend to reserve as it's quite busy.

I am really on the fence about giving this place 4 stars because of the most bizarre bartender. We walked in around 10:45/11 pm and the manager/man in a suit was gracious and accomodating and we sat down at the booth. Bar Toscana is a great neighborhood bar. It's not divey , but classy in a very compfortable way. There are TVs, everyone's just there to take the edge off their hard day and enjoy themselves. They have great floor light show that looks like a pond but isn't. We were having dinner nearby and just wanted a nightcap. The bartender told us it was last call and they only had beer, wine and vodka available. We were like okay, we just want a bottle of wine so that's not a problem. However, when we we asked for water, the bartender told us, there's no ice. Confused, as to, how does a bar work with no ice, he informed us that the machine is being cleaned for tomorrow. Now, there were atleast 10-12 other people in the bar, and its a small bar so it wasnt empty and Toscana the restaurant is across the hallway. LIterally across. So we told him, well, your sister restaurant is across, can you get us ice from there? and he's like, "well, you can go ask" and walked off. Bizarre right? So we asked the man in the suit and he was mortified. He was no, that's not the case, Let me get you ice. Told Le Bartender Bizarre something and voila, we had ice! Sorry Bar Toscana, would have 4 stars, but the bizarreness knocked you down. Otherwise, go for a fun relaxed environment and enjoy!!!

Imagine one of your favorite restaurants on the planet had a more casual spot, next store to the place, with a bar, TVs, the same food as the restaurant with additional choices and some bar food option, with some nice tables, with great service, with great martini's, with a late night menu and pure casual elegance then you have Bar Toscana. So Toscana was my place for years but a few years back. Really has not been in my path at all but that really is the only reason. I haven't gone for years I really miss the place. The food, warmth of staff and the experience is one of a kind. The other evening, I had a business meeting at the Bar and it all that as mentioned. I felt home right away. Just loved what they did with the place next store to the original and I will be back. Only little thing that one should always mention. Look out for plastic fact cougar attacks with Amex black card. Is it daddy's, ex, cheating on spouse or earned? There were 2 of them. A perpetual den. Love the place

Got here for a night drinking. Pretty dark from outside, a little bit hidden. Fancy brentwood area, they have valet parking on the side street. A little bit small than I thought. It was all full by the time we got there. It was about 9pm on a weekday. We sat at the commu table. The girls next to us were already too drunk and were flirting with the guy sitting in the couch, saying ' you are the kind of man i want'.. really loud. Music is good here. Wine is pricey, exceeding the cocktails for majority of them. I barely see this happens. I hope this indicate their wines are good. Cocktails are about $14, and there is a big selection. Wines are over $15 for most of them. Tried the champagne, a little bitter, but really refreshing. My friend had a dessert wine, which smells like flowers, and tastes like apple. Really sweet. As we were not really hungry, only tried their burrata appetizer. It was good. tasty and fresh. For $15, yes, it is a $$$ bar. I think it is a good place for a drink, for a date, for a second round of the night.

I went to the bar at Toscana last night with a friend and it was amazing. We started with a funghi pizza and spiedini di pesce. The mushrooms were very fresh on the pizza and the gratineed shrimp and calamari skewers had a wonderfully powerful, but not too rich, full-bodied flavor. The orecchiette pomodorini e basilico is a must. Each of the ingredients in this dish created a super positive experience for the pallet and the aromas were extraordinary. To close out our meal, my friend ordered the panna cotta for desert and I would eat it a thousand times over. The two of us walked in knowing it would be great but we didn't anticipate an enormously 'tasteful' connection we won't forget. Ciao!

This review is just for the bar, bartender and drinks ... had no food. My buddy and I went in late on a Tuesday night for a few drinks after dinner, and it was still reasonably filled, which was a good sign. The one cocktail (something with jalapeno and tequila and mezcal) we had was pretty good. The drinks are a little on the pricier side, but par for the course in the area and this is a nicer bar. The ambiance was great and the atmosphere is trendy, a little upscale. In addition to muted TV's behind the bar, they have a well-positioned, soothing (at least to me ... might be a bit problematic for someone with epilepsy) electronic backdrop that scrolls flowers and other electronic designs. But what blew us away was the service and friendliness of the bartenders, and especially the bar manager. This guy is truly passionate about his drinks and extremely knowledgeable. When you mix someone with a passion for what they do and who actually wants to make the customer happy, that's a recipe for a top-notch establishment. He overheard me asking my friend about grapa and it's origins, and this being a true Italian bar, he taught me all about it and offered us multiple tastings, and you could tell he wasn't doing this to try to sell us or for good business, but because he really just wanted to share his passion for the fine grapa. He had the perfect balance of chatting with us and telling us about his craft, which we appreciated, while not being too intrusive. Definitely will be back!

It's a cool vibe. Service is ok, they are friendly enough. Drinks seemed decent although I didn't have one. Now to the food, it was just OK. I did get a fairly plain pasta dish and it was REALLY plain, just tomatoes. The Tiramisu was really good though. Overall it was just ok, but would give it another shot.

It doesn't get any more authentic Italian than this. These guys have the Italian "aperitivo" starting at 5:30 and it is exactly what I experienced in Italy. By far, the best happy hour in town. My favorites on the happyritivo Italiano menu are the aperol spritz and the Italian sazerac with either tuna tartar or the prosciutto pizza. Heaven!!!!

This bar is really dark from the outside, but it is right across the street from the Coral Tree Cafe. I was able to find metered parking outside and did not have to valet my car. Thankfully, I was dressed up that evening because I had my senior farewell dinner at the Mount, so I didn't feel out of place at all. I ordered two Oro di Milanos and a Pearbellini to try. The Pearbellini was delicious and very stiff too. Not your typical bellini at all! I was feeling pretty good after my drinks and I started chatting with a bartender who turned out to be from El Salvador. We immediately began conversing in spanish and I asked him if they every have happy hour. Sadly, they do not. How can I expect happy hour specials at a fancy bar like this one? I will be going back though, because the service was great and the drinks were amazing!

The cocktails here are so ridiculously well crafted and delicious -- it really is like having a fresh alcohol filled artisanal salad or something. You won't understand until you try one, so go.

Nothing but praise for this bastion of refined mixology in Brentwood. It's probably the only bar I'd recommend along San Vicente, partly because there aren't many other options, but also because it's consistently great. Drinks are expensive but you will always be satisfied. And tipsy. In another life I was an old Italian man, so I have an affinity for the classics and they have a great Spritz and selection of Negronis. But their own creations are surprisingly good too. My flatmate ordered the "Brentwood Garden" with ingredients that covered the basics of a farmer's market produce stand, but the outcome was anything but earthy. Super refreshing and had hints of veggies without being overpowering. I'd fully endorse it if you make it out there. The vibe is intimate without being quiet, the kitschy lighting and upbeat music- coupled with the dressed up bartenders somehow transport you to the equivalent of a neighborhood spot you'd stumble upon off of a charming side street in an Italian city.

Live next door. Been here multiple times. Same story. Overpriced. HORRIBLE service. Food was good but not worth the $$$. If I'm spending $75 a person for dinner I don't want to wait over 30 minutes for my glass of wine (it arrived after the food). Go to tavern across the street.

Total props for this bar....why? 1) they have purse hooks under the bar (yippeee, love that), 2) they have plugs available to charge your phone assuming you have your charger with you that is a great plus and 3) the drinks were great. I was checking out the margherita pizza the folks next to us were having and it looked scrumptious. Too bad I had just had dinner. Know before you go....they don't have an specific closing time. It depends on how busy it is on week nights, so this night it was busy and they were open late - good for us! Valet parking. They serve food and drinks. They have tables with great window views and plenty of seats at the bar.

This Italian gem makes it for a great night, any night of the week! My favorite bar/small food restaurant in the Westside. Mixologist William simply kills it with his innovative drinks. Best Negroni in town! Hand carved ice is half of the fun! Authentic carpaccio dish makes it for a great complement.

My favorite place in brentwood Good drinks, always super cold. Amazing waiters, they have that vibe that makes the place great. Great food. Sliders, ahi tartar, grill calamari, margartia pizza and all of the pastas! We love the real side too but for a trendier atmosphere thats a little less formal we love this side.

Overpriced drinks and invisible service ... it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to get two cocktails AT THE BAR. Had we waited for service at the table it would've taken forever! Never again.

...pretty good Italian food in Los Angeles. I had a FANTASTIC piece of Branzino here. Moist, flavorful, and slightly charred and crispy on the outside; not too salty, and with just enough juice and fat retained. Really - it was just a great piece of fish, served over some spinach and garlic that was perfectly salted. With that, I would say the seafood here must be done well. There were also some fantastic salads here, with a marvelous melody of greens, very fresh and beautiful tomatoes, and fragrant parmesan cheese. I highly recommend any of their light salads here. Lastly, the secret here is that you really can get the same food here at the "bar" as you can at the restaurant next door - with much less wait. It is also a younger crowd and more hip ambience, which I generally prefer. Would come back again for sure - and you should visit.

Had great pasta and tiramisu last night here. It was my third time and it was delicious. It reminds me of Italy in the good old days. It's a little small but it is a bar. The restaurant Toscana is next door and is also terrific. I spoke to the host, Thomas, who is very nice and charming. He is perfect for this neighborhood spot. I wouldn't mind eating here for the rest of my life. The food is outstanding and everybody is so nice. I guarantee you will enjoy yourself here.

Meh. The cocktails are good, but the service was terrible, it took us an hour to pay despite asking for our check and immediately leaving our credit cards. Also extremely loud, so that you end up shouting.

Wow! What a snazzy place. Wasn't that crowded when I got there at 6P but an hour later this place was bumpin. The menu is expensive. Swallow that pill before you walk in, but the service was great and the wine I had was delicious. They even gave me a couple of tastings before I decided. I loved the atmosphere too. Maybe because it was the holidays and they had it decorated, but it is just a lovely place to come have a drink. It looks like you can dine there too and order off of the restaurant menu at the tables. It was definitely a fun, lively (but still classy! It's Brentwood) place to grab a drink. It was a little more down to earth then Tavern across the way, in my opinion (also a great place to sit at the bar). They have a TV showing sports, so maybe that's why. I would add this to my "good places for work drinks (small groups only)" list. Anyway, come swing by here for a classy drink.

This is another one of those thumbs up, "Hey, A-OK!" 3-star reviews, not the "Eh, it was just OK" 3-star reviews. 3 stars with a smile, rather than a shrug. So let's start with the really good - those cocktails. This is a very typical LA bar experience, where the mixologists (NOT the 'bartenders') will flash you their pearly whites as they serve you your $14 cocktail. But know this ...it's a damn good cocktail, and you'll find yourself enjoying every sip of the muddled, mixed, spicy, sweet goodness of just about any drink you want. On to the good - we also had food. And I, because of my excitement around celebrating/catching up with a former coworker, felt compelled to get the most extravagant item that caught my eye: the burrata & black truffle pizza. $30 for a pizza? Sure, why not. And when it came out I was both delighted and disappointed -- delighted that the truffle taste was about as strong as I've ever had, and that the combination was delightful, but disappointed that the pizza was just warm. The kind of warm that begs the customer to eat it within 5 minutes, lest it get cold and therefore inedible (and this is not the kind of pizza you want from the fridge). It wasn't cold enough to send back, but I was bummed that I didn't get to enjoy this pizza at the leisurely pace that I would have liked to. Speaking of leisurely, let's move on to service. Seated at the bar, it took two people 3.5 hours to have 2 cocktails and an entree each. "Leisurely" is an understatement to describe this pace. $5.50 valet, or find street parking. All in all, while it was a nice experience, great atmosphere, and friendly staff, it was just too pricey for the quality and too slow to warrant a visit back.

On a pretty average night, I'll go out with my friends and one drink turns into a couple which turns into 'one of those nights' - well last night we were on a mission for a 'just one drink' night, which honestly doesn't happen as often as it should. We were on the hunt for a bar with an adorable decor, a radiant ambiance, friendly service and tasty beverages - great news for us that Bar Toscana is right around the corner and perfectly fit the bill! I got a Sorrento: Tequila, mint, cucumber amazingness :D next time, I'm going to have to ask for the jalapeno infused Tequila, it was already good but this little kick would make it even better! The rest of the cocktail menu looked equally good, so I'll definitely be coming back to try it all - and eventually maybe even the food as well.

My husband is Italian and is an amazing cook. We frequent Bar Toscana for the pizza because it is the best, most authentic Italian pizza in LA that we have found. The ambient is a classy, sleek bar with enough decor to keep your eyes engaged. Lastly, cocktails are amazing!!! ;)

This is absolutely my favorite bar in Brentwood. Classy, sophisticated crowd. The drinks are amazing. I had a spicy margarita, best one on the Westside. And the beef carpaccio is absolutely delish! I wish they had one more tv, or would have all major games on the projections. Need more classy location to watch sports.

**SMALL BAR, BIG FOOD, IN BRENTWOOD** Again, my favorite bar in Brentwood. Didn't try their bar food until now. ORDERED: **TARTUFO NERO E BURRATA ($25) Burrata cheese and summer black truffle thin-crust pizza was decent, but I preferred a warmer, crispier, and cheesier pizza. **TIRAMISU' BAR TOSCANA ($9) Pavesini soaked in espresso, mascarpone mousse and chocolate shavings is one of my favorite desserts in the West Side. Creamy and whipped, the texture and flavors are perfectly combined. Not too sweet; just right. **GNOCCHI A PIACERE ($22) Potato dumplings tasted wonderful and fresh with our choice of sauce. We chose the meat sauce. Solid Italian fare. Customer service was excellent. Cocktails were excellent (we kept ordering the Old Fashioned). Place was BUMPIN during Oscars weekend. Again, lots of pretty people with lots of bling and dough. I APPRECIATE. RECOMMEND.

I've been here a few times for girls nights. Staff is friendly and good is delicious. Bar tender even gave my friend a tasting of a mixed drink. I've never made it to the main courses, only sharing the small plates. The bruschetta sampler is a must. I've also had the sliders, vegetable pizza, burata salad, a pea salad, tuna tartare and a few other dishes. Again everything is good. Neighborhood gem. And has valet.

I really wanted to love this place. Truly. The ambiance is fantastic. Cool 3D art projector on the wall and in the window sills, as well as great chic decor. Wonderful menu options though we only had cocktails and not food so I couldn't comment there. Came with a group of 5 of us and from the moment we got there, we received a bit of attitude. No one seemed eager to help us and felt we were almost a bother. The place was insanely LOUD. We couldn't hear each other talking at the table, even right next to one another, and the whole reason we came was to converse and catch up. I understand that it's the "bar" of Toscana and not the restaurant side but I was kind of taken back by how noisy it was. We ended up heading across the street to another Italian spot where it was much less noisy and we were greeted with open arms and hospitality...the way it should be. Sheesh

The girl at the door was welcoming and super sweet (what a nice a surprise)! The bar is really Euro-sharp inside with good upbeat music. The food looked great but we didn't dine as were waiting for a table a Sugar Fish. Anyway- the drinks were fantastic, service was quick and I loved every second. Looking forward to a full dining experience sometime soon.
Nice atmosphere. Tasty but not super strong cocktails so order them for taste not to get buzzed. I like the basic tomato basil pasta. Pretty yummy. The bf likes the beef sliders. Great location if you live in Brentwood. Easy walk.

Awesome looking bar in a nice area! Not a huge place, but the atmosphere is upscale yet comfortable. My wife and I stopped here with some friends while we waited for our table at the adjacent restaurant "Toscana", which is literally 6 feet away. The beer, wine, and spirit selection is very good. The prices aren't so good. But that's usually what you expect when you visit a posh bar like this. Parking can be found on the streets (metered, I think) or around the corner (valet). if you're looking for a nice place to have cocktails and small bites, relax and hang out with friends, Bar Toscana will definitely fit the bill. If you're wallet-conscious, you might want to imbibe elsewhere. Tips: -- Try the "Toscana" restaurant next door. Small, intimate, and delicious food. -- Be aware that most drinks (if not all drinks) CANNOT be carried over from Bar Toscana to Toscana restaurant.

I LOVE THIS LITTLE SPOT! Landed in this lounge after double date dinner with some friends last week to have a drink, coffee and dessert. My friend's new BF is a regular here and we got a great table in zilch time. The wonderful manager made a drink for me that was *exactly* what I was looking for flavor-wise, it was some kind of negroni with basil and some other liquor. They had coffee, hubby had an espresso martini (which was amazeballs and tasted like it was made with some very high quality shizz) Dessert we had a tiramisu and a panna cotta. These desserts were both the kind of dessert you think about months later and need a panty change from the eensy 'o' you just had. The panna cotta had something called 'lady kisses crunch' on top of it - it was SO rich and delicious and if thats what lady kisses taste like, I kissed a girl and I liked it!!!!!! Walked past a couple having full entree dinners on the way out and it smelled heavenly. They serve the full restaurant menu (restaurant across the walkway of same name is same kitchen) so we will be coming back to dine! Soon! I can't say much about price, for once I didn't pay ;)

Ventured in to Bar Toscana late last night for a night cap. Bar Toscana is an off shoot of Toscana and a very welcome addition to Brentwood. It is a low lit, modern, long bar with several small tables lining up a long window that overlooks Barrington. It is a fantastic place to stop in for a drink while waiting for a table at Toscana, or as a destination for a few drinks and small bites. We did not eat there, but plan on coming back to do so. The bartender was very friendly and extremely busy making hand crafted cocktails. I will update this review in the future, once I have had a chance to eat at Bar Toscana.

This place deserves my 5 star, hands down, best place in town (Brentwood) rating! Their twist on the old fashioned is amazing; beef carpaccio and pastas are unreal. It's well worth the steep price. I wish I could go on with details, but that wouldn't do this place justice. Stop in and see for yourself! I'll be back a million times.

I love the restaurant, but the bar is a different story. The waiters are extremely rude and rushing. I know it's Brentwood, but they're pretentious even for the area. I walked in with my girlfriend and was told to sit anywhere. We sat at an open table that had booth like seating. We were quickly and rudely told to move as "this is a table for four". We left. I had been to the bar before and eaten. Food is good, but service is long and slow.

So when you walk up to the building there's a Toscana on your left and a Bar Toscana on your right. Toscana is a more classic Italian spot with beer and wine only, while Bar Toscana is a trendier lounge-style restaurant with cocktails. I expected the food here to be so-so because of the trendy lounge vibe, but it was way better than I expected. Drinks: Great taste and presentation... best I've had in Brentwood so far, actually. It's one of the few places where your Moscow Mule is actually served in a copper mug! They have a great selection of savory specialty cocktails (my favorite). They change their menu seasonally, so I don't recall any names. ask for recommendations-the servers all know what they're talking about. Food: grilled polenta dish with melted gorgonzola, arugula, wild mushrooms, and shaved black truffles. So good, but when is anything covered in melted cheese and shaved truffle not amazing? We also shared a huge ribeye steak, which was cooked exactly to medium-rare with a great char. The food wasn't as unique as the drinks, but everything was equally as delicious. Downside: It's really small, so there's pretty much no room for privacy. A few of the staff were a little snobby the first time we went, though we were admittedly way underdressed. It was borderline overpriced, but standard for Brentwood so I'll definitely go back!

By far this is the best bar in Brentwood! We love the drinks and the food and it's always a must if we are celebrating any event, like a Friday:) William makes the best drinks and I'm particular about a jalepeno concoction that he serves up!

$8 for a beer?! Ridiculous. Can you say "inflated"? On top of that, the waiter was a complete douche bag. Attention management: I suggest you inform your waiter that walking up to a customer, who they have ignored for 15 minutes, and saying, "Yah?" does not define good service. It also helps when you check back with your table to see if they want anything else, but he didn't do that once. Nice decor and atmosphere. Too bad the service was sub-par and shitty. However, it's the perfect formula to eliminate any repeat visits.

My fav bar in LA!! Best best drink you can ask! You tell them what liquor and what fruit and herb and they make it happen!!!! Hooo I love this place. Once a week is my treat!

Sliders and drink specials are great. Totally would reco this spot. I know for a fact that the bar tenders have to receive and complete special training or something. Head chef is hot and really friendly. Walks around and makes sure patrons are happy with their food and having a good time.

It's so stuffy to have to hang out with a bunch of Brentwood men in suits. Honestly, I felt super underdressed even though I was already wearing the most business-like outfit of my business casual wardrobe. Those guys must make the big bucks because I certainly cannot afford to go to Bar Toscana on a regular basis, or at all. One drink cost me $15, with tax and tip, I escaped with $20 less in my wallet and no buzz at all. The drink I had was called the Sorrento and it was essentially a glorified margarita. Yes it was good but it was not worth it. Maybe if I were older and richer, this place would appeal to me a lot more. In the meantime, I'm going to take my middle-class self to a cheaper bar.

Better than Toscana. The issue with Toscana is it's outdated. Same thing since 1989. Stuffy, tables too close together, and no liquor license! Bar Toscana remedies some of that. Modern ambiance, full bar with interesting cocktails, and some different menu items like hamburger sliders. As far as I could tell, Bar Toscana also had the same menu as regular Toscana (they must share a kitchen), so that was a huge plus. Because on the web site, it says they have different menus, but I was able to order anything I wanted from regular Toscana. That was nice, you're not just limited to appetizers and bar food here. Drinks are like $12-18 but they are strong and they use good ingredients, so it's worth it. Service was acceptable and authentic Italian. They really don't need that snooty bar hostess in front though. Average patron here is a 55 year old white male millionaire in a suit who lives in Brentwood. Anyway, Toscana has always had some of the best Italian food around, it is the one of the originals, and Bar Toscana continues that legacy with a full bar and a new atmosphere. It's worth the money for the food and drinks.

HIGHLIGHTS: STUZZICHINO TOSCANO - burrata cheese, roasted spicy pepperoni, tomato jam with Italian bread toast (like pita chips). Never had this combination, and I liked it! RISOTTO CATALANA - arborio rice, shrimp and saffron. Generous with the shrimp, enough to get a piece in every bite. Nicely done! PROSCIUTTO PIZZA - only the crust was NOT covered by prosciutto. I like that they're not stingy with the animal in their food! OK: Margherita pizza - pretty standard Lasagnita Di Zucca - interesting dish but just OK to me SKIP: Rigatoni Alla Contadina - rigatoni with tomatoes, onions and pancetta. It was dark so I couldn't see all that well, so I didn't notice any pancetta - more importantly, this was a pretty bland dish, and I couldn't taste any pancetta. Bummer! This bar is small, but it has seating for dinner and at the bar, and has some solid food overall. We had a reservation for 3 people, but showed up with 5. Problem? Even though it was packed and loud on a Friday night, they accommodated us with no sweat, and added an extra chair onto the table of four without issue. We ordered two pizzas (thin and good to share) three pastas and a small bite dish, we split everything between the 5 of us. It came to $50/person including the couple drinks we had each. A little pricey, but hey, it's Brentwood!

The wife and I gave bar toscana a shot with a couple friends. The hostess managed to find us a four top on a crowded friday which was awesome. This place is super pricey and packed as hell on a friday evening, but the food is great. I had a negroni and the spicy salami pizza and both were fantastic. It's an authentic Italian pizza, and that's tough to find. Also the cocktail was made perfectly. The table also ordered the quattro staggione pizza (which was good but a bit too many capers), the insalata di rape ( beet salad), the burrata and speck appetizer, and the black truffle pasta. All were spot on and delicious. The crowd was a bit cougarrific, but it didn't detract from the experience at all, and the kitchen is open late. I'll definitely be back.

They have Noras which is an Italian beer that is just superb. Great people and food.

This bar is expensive. Be prepared to pay 2-3 bucks over even downtown prices. A 15 dollar martini shocks my conscience but I suck it up since it's the only martini within walking distance of my apartment. Prices that will drive your wallet to suicide aside, this is a nice bar. Never too crowded, though there is always a "crowd" if you get me. I have always been able to sit on the rail which is what I care about. That way I can listen to the true Italiano barkeeps chat away in their mother tongue. The sound is smoother than a perfectly crafted negroni...which is actually bitter, but I am trying to keep with the Italian theme. This bar is an offshoot of an Italian restaurant, after all (never eaten there as I imagine their pasta is homemade, leaving my vegan self with few enticing options). My bartender of choice is a friendly guy whose name escapes me, but he is a tall, dark, and handsome Italian. Remembered me when I asked again if they carried Martin Millers (no, they still don't AHEM) and threw us a couple of ports to cap off the night. After a specialty drink made from fresh ingredients, this hit the spot. Then with a gracie mille, I was out! Only nice cocktail bar in the area. Worth the visit if you're in the hood. Just hope for your sake it's gonna be an early night because the bar basically shuts down at 10, 11 tops, 12 on a weekend if you're super lucky. And then you will be meandering through the ghost town known as "Brentwood" wondering why you left the beer and shot bars of the east side to go to UCLA. Or maybe that's just me?

Great neighborhood hangout. Not as amazing as Toscana next door but great for a casual girls night out. Love the pizzas with a glass of house chianti. When you order the tiramisu make sure it is from the main restaurant because the bar desert sucks! It is very loud on Thursday-Sat. so not suited for a quite conversation over the loud Italians or Europeans like myself.

Great atmosphere, service, food and cocktails! We even got to meet Luca the talented chef from Verona. Loved it! Definitely try the Brentwood's garden cocktail and the carpaccio, mini osso bucco, burrata and beet salad! Everything was delicious!

Wow. Snazzy setup, a mixology-oriented drink menu, and fantastic plates to share. The inside is gorgeous for the small space. You can immediately tell the thought and money they put into it. Mod looking lights hung from the ceiling, black plastic laced placemats, projector playing a DNA-looking piece on the wall. There was also lighting right outside the glass walls, on the ground - I thought it was real water, but alas, only swirls of color to look like it. The lounge area was a little bright, and more inside, the chairs and tables were probably too close for comfort. When one man stood up, his jacket almost fell into my friend's drink. That said, my italian sazerac was out of this world. As one of my favorite drinks, bar toscana's version has risen near the top. The food is fashioned after stuzzichini, or italian small bites: Venison carpaccio - as it looks and sounds. Thin slices of deer meat enveloping a few pickles and dashes of olive oil. The gameyness of the meat glaringly bare and pure. Roasted pumpkin salad with grilled chanterelle mushrooms, frisee, and goat cheese - what a medley of autumn goodness. Tuna tartar - kinda small compared to the other dishes but delicious nonetheless. Two levels of tuna with crispy tortilla -like squares under each. The dishes came and were so neatly placed and ordered on the table. It reminded me of Bottega Louie's cordial style. Be prepared that these apps were all 'small' and pricey for what you get. And not necessarily 'light' - there was quite a bit of evoo in some. They ran between $11 - $15 for the ones noted above, and came on oblong or 4x4 square dishes. I think the place has a lot of potential for growth. I'll def be back to test out more of their mixology talents!

As soon as I parked, I was disappointed. Bar Toscana is located on the ground floor of what looks like an office building... very cold, very corporate. NO nuance or atmosphere. I figured it would get better once I got inside? Nope. I walked in the front door and I felt like I was in an office. Cheesy animated graphics projected onto the walls, poor, awkward lighting, uncomfortable IKEA chairs, cheap tables.... I was expecting the luxe, sexy, yummy place portrayed on their website and the Tasting Table newsletter.....definitely NOT what I was sold. My friend and I each ordered a signature cocktail and had intended to order food, but after sitting for about 20 minutes (and being subjected to their awful taste in music), we opted for C&O's instead. Glad we bounced when we did because the tab came to $40.... yes $40 for two mediocre cocktails. It was quintessential LA -- overpriced, big promises and little to back it up.

I came here last night with a friend from work. The bar is kinda small but the decor is very stylish. In line with the decor, our waitress looked like an overtanned actress/model. She was nice at first but became mean towards the end when she wanted us to vacate the table. We ordered the arugala and apple salad, polentine and panini. We also ordered two bellinis, two glasses of Italian sauv blanc and tiramisu. The drinks were delicious but the wine was ok. The apps and tiramisu were great but VERY small for the price. Our bill came out to $117 without tip and we still left feeling hungry. I'd recommend this place, but only for the high-priced mixed drinks. If you're looking for a higher end happy hour, go to The Wilshire or Bandera.

I have lived in Brentwood for years. This has always been my go to bar to get some appetizers and drinks. The waiter (tall dark and handsome) knows how to do his job well and always with a smile. The food is delicious and the drinks are even better. Its authentic Italian cuisine in the heart if LA's most beautiful city. I bring new friends here all the time and they rave about it. I love you Bar Toscana!

Finally went here the other night for a little date night. For some reason it took me ages to make it over here and now I'm regretting that fact because I have wasted many calories on things that were not as delicious as Toscana. Wonderful little place, amazing service, and the cocktails were divine. I wish I could have had more but I was driving. Delish risotto, a bite of a truffle burger, a sigh of contentment, and all was right with the world.

My best girlfriend just took me here as part of my birthday celebration. We went to Drybar in Brentwood Gardens before, so we valet parked there and walked over. The menu here is fabulous for both food and drink. This is an expensive bar, but the atmosphere, service, and food are all very lovely. I especially loved the beet and goat cheese salad. I'm a sucker for fresh burrata, and that was great here as well... try the one with the green tomato jam. So delicious, and the pretzel bread is a nice touch. The Aperol Spritz was a delicious drink, which I think I'm going to start preparing for myself as an aperitif at home after having it here. Highly recommend this spot.

We usually have dinner at Toscana but due to limited space we were seated next door at the Toscana Bar. The service was the worst service ever. The food came cold because it had to be brought over from next door. We made multiple request for the free pizza bread but it did not come after we finished the pasta. Also we had ordered ice tea and they gave us warm ice tea

delicious cocktails. Food is not bad but nothing special. It does go well with the drinks. Staff is very friendly, and very knowledgable and helpful. Did I mention delicious cocktails? Very nice atmosphere, although you're in Brentwood so the pretentiousness level is at a maximum. A lot of rich dudes with their trophy WAGs in there. Update: Now every place in LA has killer cocktails. So the utter drag of having to be in Brentwood while enjoying a cocktail here caused the rating to be downgraded to 3 stars.

I wish Yelp had separate categories for food and service. Because the food at Bar Toscana, like the food at it's older brother Toscana, is fabulous. And I love the idea of a more informal restaurant with a full bar. But like Toscana, the way this place is managed is just dreadful. We had a 7 pm reservation on a Thursday night and waited until almost 8 pm for a table. The manager offered free drinks and got the drinks order completely wrong. He then lied for more than 30 minutes about when our reserved table would be ready ("just 10 minutes--trust me!"). When we finally sat down, we were all annoyed. But, the food was good. And I can't complain about that. But the terrible management is what will keep me from going back. Just like Toscana. Which I avoid because no matter what time we make a reservation, we are kept waiting at least 45 minutes. Either honor the reservation or just tell people you don't take reservations and there will be a 45 minute to one hour wait.

I really like the feel of the place-- its got a good vibe, with a cool lounge area when you walk in, tables lining the window and a nice bar. Unfortunately, aside from the feel of the place, the only other thing that is working for this place is the drinks (which is not a bad thing for a bar). My friends and I sat at a table and ordered some drinks and appetizers while we waited for our table at their restaurant across the way, Toscana. I had the Cinque Terre (gin, strawberries, mint, basil, lime, agave) and tasted my friend's Pearbellini (vodka, st. germain, pears, lime juice, bitters) which were both tasty but not very strong. For $15 a pop, I expect a little more umph! We were really hungry and we were gonna have to wait a bit for our table next door so we decided to order a couple apps to hold us over. We got the Polentine (baked polenta croutons, gorgonzola fondue/shaved black truffle), Crudo Del Giorno (seared ahi tuna, capers, pesto, green peppers, tomato confit) and Rapini Grigliati (grilled rapini, pistachio, olive oil, nicoise sea salt, lemon zest). I very rarely have an experience where I want to send food back, but I probably could've sent everything we were eating back! The gorgonzola/truffle fondue had such a bad odor (which is typical for gorgonzola) but had absolutely no flavor. We ended up sending it back when no one wanted to touch it. The rest we dealt with. I guess what I would say about the Rapini and Ahi Tuna is that they both were decent, but nothing special. I easily could've made the same thing at home and that's not the feeling you want when you go out to munch. Our server seemed nice enough but also became a bit short with me when I apologetically told him about our experience of the Polenta dish. I understand it doesn't feel good to have food sent back, but that's not something you take out on your guests. Nonetheless, there were other things with our server (who I couldn't tell if he was more a host or manager or what, but he didn't seem suited as a server). Small mistakes that could happen to anyone on an off-day, but in the context of everything else, left a bad taste in our mouths (almost as much as the gorgonzola/truffle concoction)... So much that we didn't really feel like eating at the restaurant after, which I was looking forward to doing. When I told the hostess at Toscana that I appreciated the table they set for us but that we weren't really wanting to eat there after our experience at the bar, she immediately got the head honcho to come talk to us (which I told her was unnecessary because I really didn't want it to be a big deal, which she completely ignored). He was kind and listened to us but I would've much rather he apologize for our experience, since all restaurants can have off days, than tell us for 10 minutes how amazing the chef is and how he is very surprised by our experience. Not to mention, he was pretty touchy feely with the ladies, which made me a bit uncomfortable. So be warned! It is a decent enough place to go for drinks if you are in the neighborhood, but not really as a destination bar.....

I love this place. A little small but the pizza and pasta must come from Toscana next door because its just as good. And there is a little more of a pulse and younger feel. Yes, its expensive but its Brentwood and very worth it. The manager/host is also great. Have had a great time every time Ive gone there.

Very odd experience here. It is right next to my house yet I don't think I will be back. Very uninviting environment. I have never had to deal with a "host" for a bar. Strike one. They have these odd, cheesy, repeating pattern being projected on the wall. Strike two. Service was sub par. Third strike, I'm out.

This is exactly what Brentwood needed!!! Bar Toscana is a very sophisticated bar which also happens to serve wonderful food. It is the perfect venue for a light meal with a great drink and definitely the best place in Brentwood for a nightcap. We like popping in for an espresso (best around) and a little dulce. Other times we'll go there for digestivo after dining at Toscana or Tavern. The Maitre'd is as nice as can be. I should also add that the seating is very comfortable and servers are at the top of their game. Bar Toscana is a true gem.

Great bar for a quick snack before the theatre. Fantastic wines by the glass. We shared a seafood risotto that was by-the-book and tasty although not inspired. The crudo was a great start to the meal. Stylish decor including installations by Steinkamp. Waitress gave us some unusual travel tips for our upcoming plans for Italy. We'll be back but probably will eat at the restaurant side. Menu looks more interesting. Toscana is a bit hard to find at first since it's in a non-descript brick building that looks like offices. Worth finding, though.

This hip bar is another best thing just happened to my hood, besides Sugar fish and pinkberry. The atmosphere is casual compared to it's successor but still a little snobby.. totally my style :) The cocktails are delish and I ate all their appetizers and would come back just to eat them again. Perfect for a happy hour, a nice catch up date with friends.. and I can catch LeBron and Nash in action!

I love this place so much! I live up the street and found it by accident one day. It IS expensive ($15+) for a drink....BUT you get what you pay for. If you sit at the bar, you can watch how they make the drink and they really care about the quality of what they give you. They muddle fresh fruit and measure the shots and shake and stir and even take a straw full and taste it themselves before giving it to you to make sure the drink tastes perfect! Their drinks are a gourmet treat and it should be sipped and enjoyed. This is definitely not a place to go if you want to pound some drinks and get wasted... It's a very relaxed atmosphere and I like to come here for special occasions. The bartenders are so nice (and sooooo cute) and have Italian accents. You really feel like you are in Italy at this bar!

They have REAL Coca-Cola! In a bottle, sweetened with real sugar. oh it is good..... and the little munchies are divine - the cheese is just fabulous. Nice and easy valet parking. Excellent addition to the neighborhood

Finally! I have been a Brentwood resident for almost seven years and have been waiting for a place like this. It's small and fairly quiet with good drinks, that they obviously take pride in preparing, and tasty small plates. I had a special cocktail, the Oscar, a limey tequila drink with a spicy kick. My friend had the deconstructed pizza, which I didn't try, but was presented beautifully. I had a dessert, some fresh berries served with a chocolate sauce presented in a tiny tart shell. The manager and wait staff were so nice. And thank goodness, this place feels young and fresh, without needing to be trendy, like Katsuya down the street. I am a lover of just about everything Italian, and am so happy for the addition of this gem to my neighborhood.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

(5)Anton L.

(4)Cady G.

(4)Eva M.
This review is just based on the drinks. I only went once and only tried a couple cocktails. They were delicious! The mixologists are fantastic, the servers are very nice, and the drink menu is great! I'll definitely be back for the drinks! The food menu looked very good as well so I wanna try that too
(5)Sally C.
I'm a regular here .. so all I can say it's outstanding from the food to the service to the ambience!! Great people great choice of wines and the food is just fabulous! It's definitely a try!!
(5)Francis A.

Heaven!!!!
(5)Carolina S.
(4)Tasha D.

(5)Sheridan J.
(3)Tiffany G.
(5)CJ O.
(5)Kathleen A.
Love the atmosphere here! Awesome crafted cocktails, favorite is the Italian Sazerac. Small plates are also very good, all of them!
(5)Ashley S.
(5)Janice C.
Overpriced drinks and invisible service ... it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to get two cocktails AT THE BAR. Had we waited for service at the table it would've taken forever! Never again.
(1)Mark M.
...pretty good Italian food in Los Angeles.
(4)mark a.
(5)Brynna B.
Meh. The cocktails are good, but the service was terrible, it took us an hour to pay despite asking for our check and immediately leaving our credit cards. Also extremely loud, so that you end up shouting.
(3)Caitlin M.

(5)Pascale C.

RECOMMEND.
(4)Cara E.
(4)Jeff P.
Sheesh
(2)C S.
(5)Susie S.
I love the Toscana Bar. Now that I can call myself a Brentwood local, I think this is my favorite spot to go with my fiancé for a late night drink and light dinner to share. The hostess always greets us with a smile and the bartenders ask us how we are. Oh and the mixed drinks are delicious.
(5)Kaitlyn B.
Nice atmosphere. Tasty but not super strong cocktails so order them for taste not to get buzzed. I like the basic tomato basil pasta. Pretty yummy. The bf likes the beef sliders. Great location if you live in Brentwood. Easy walk.
(4)Chris Y.
(4)Maribeth H.
(5)Noel K.
(5)Alex K.
(5)Derek D.
(2)Dhea S.
(4)Happy WestSide M.
By far this is the best bar in Brentwood! We love the drinks and the food and it's always a must if we are celebrating any event, like a Friday:) William makes the best drinks and I'm particular about a jalepeno concoction that he serves up!
(5)Klaus N.
(1)Flavia L.
My fav bar in LA!! Best best drink you can ask! You tell them what liquor and what fruit and herb and they make it happen!!!! Hooo I love this place. Once a week is my treat!
(5)M Y.
Sliders and drink specials are great. Totally would reco this spot. I know for a fact that the bar tenders have to receive and complete special training or something. Head chef is hot and really friendly. Walks around and makes sure patrons are happy with their food and having a good time.
(5)Yi Z.
(2)Mike C.
(4)Navin W.
(4)Harsh K.
(4)Sergio S.
They have Noras which is an Italian beer that is just superb. Great people and food.
(4)Jenn B.
(4)True Confessions K.
(5)Shabnam P.
Great atmosphere, service, food and cocktails! We even got to meet Luca the talented chef from Verona. Loved it! Definitely try the Brentwood's garden cocktail and the carpaccio, mini osso bucco, burrata and beet salad! Everything was delicious!
(5)Jordan M.
Great food and a smallish but well picked wine list as well. Service was great. Ambience was great. Intimate but not overly so. Overall a positive experience.
(5)Jean L.

I love you Bar Toscana!

drinks were really good. Speziato Aperol Spritz need to come back for an old fashioned and the food.

I really liked this small bar/restaurant. Had their Funghi Risotto which was cooked to perfection! My date enjoyed his truly enormous steak. Will be back!

Made a right turn into the Bar vs the Rest.. because the place looked very inviting - "winning" our patronage. The cheeses- meats - breads - pastas tapas and italian margartitas were delicious. Loved all their ingredients and service, grazie and touche

Great wines, cocktails and service. Keep the quality of the neighbor Toscana Restaurant with more a hip atmosphere. Appetizers are great !!!! Bravi

delicious cocktails.

Knowledgeable bartenders, nice cocktails and a euro feeling environment
